BIOGRAPHY

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yusuf Awan has more than 50 years’ vast experience of teaching, research and administration. He is “HEC approved PhD supervisor”. He is a Life Member of the Pakistan Council of Architects and Town Planner (PCATP) and a Life member of Institute of Architects Pakistan (IAP). He completed his B. Arch in 1974 from the UET Lahore and PhD in 1993 from the University of Sheffield, UK.
He has served at the UET for 37 years up to 2012 in different positions including lecturer, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor, and Chairman Department of Architecture, Chairman Proctorial Board, Advisor Foreign Students.
While being at the UK from 1989-1993, he has a unique experience of establishing Pakistan Students’ Society, served as representative of Post Graduate Students at the Board of faculty of Architectural Studies and one of the five elected members in Overseas Students’ Committee of the University of Sheffield.
He served the UMT Lahore for 11 years from 2012 t0 2023 as Professor, Chairman and Dean School of Architecture and Planning. In addition, at the UMT, he has been Chairman Students’ Disciplinary Committee, Chief Editor HEC approved Journal of Art, Architecture and Built Environment (JAABE) in “Y’ category, Chairman Research Ethics and Support Committee (RESC).
• At UMT, he launched and established 04 bachelor programs, 02 master's Programs and one PhD program in Architecture.
• Overall, he has successfully supervised more than 800 Bachelor Thesis Projects, more than 48 Master theses and one PhD Thesis whereas 04 PhD theses are in the process of completion.
• He has participated in and organized several National and International Conferences.
• He has published more than 27 papers in the HEC approved Journals. He has an honor of being external member of BOS, PGRC and BOF of several universities in Pakistan.
He has now joined the Institute for Art and Culture (IAC), Lahore as professor/ Dean School of Architecture, Design and Urbanism from August 2023. He strengthened three Bachelor programs including:
• Bachelor of Architecture,
• Bachelors in Interior Design
• BS Construction Management.
• He launched another program of BS Tourism, Hospitality and Culinary Arts (THCA) and three Associate degree Programs of Interior Design, Construction Management and Tourism, Hospitality and Culinary Art from 2025.

• He has the honor of launching two Master’s degree programs, Master of Architecture and master's in interior design in 2024.
